12 Wedding Songs to Skip

Congratulations! You’ve finally tied the knot and now it’s time to celebrate. But wait, we know for sure there are certain songs that you and your guests are NOT going to want to dance to. We put together a little list of songs that you should tell your DJ to skip at the reception. Still looking for a DJ? We always have one at our NJ Rock The Aisle Bridal Shows that you can check out!

Rock the Aisle Bridal Wedding Songs

  1. Celine Dion- My Heart Will Go On

We know that you love to belt out this song, but…just no. It’s a heartfelt song made for a tragic event in history. You already cried during the ceremony. Please, no more tears.

2. Kanye West- Gold Digger

This is pretty self-explanatory. You don’t want any guests to hear this and then start looking at you suspiciously.

3. PSY- Gangnam Style

It’s a fine song to listen to, but we don’t want anyone getting hurt trying to keep up with the dance moves.

4. Shaggy- It Wasn’t Me

You’re going to have both family AND friends at your reception…I don’t think you want to be in the same room as your grandparents while listening to this song.

5. Nelly- Hot In Herre

This song is fun to listen to in the club, but we don’t want anyone to bust out into a striptease during your reception!

6. Whitney Houston- I Will Always Love You

This song is a classic (we know!), but it doesn’t stop it from being a mood killer.

7. Ray Anthony- Hokey Pokey

Just…no.

8. Village People- YMCA

This song is great for a baseball game, but not so great for your wedding reception.

9. Trace Adkins- Honky Tonk Badonkadonk

Again, just…no.

10. The Chicken Dance

Enjoy the chicken at your reception, but please don’t dance like one.

11. DJ Casper- Cha Cha Slide

You’ve listened to this at almost every event for years. I think it’s time to let it go.

12. Lynyrd Skynyrd- Free Bird

This song is just way too long!

There are plenty of other songs that should definitely be skipped, but this is just a few. Don’t be afraid to let your NJ Wedding DJ know your perfect playlist!
